About Sisters in Christ: Laverne and Stormy
Study Content: "The Power to Change" by Craig Groeschel. Books can be ordered through Amazon or at a discount through your group leader.
Group Overview: This group is for women of faith wanting to break from the daily battle of self-doubt and destructive thinking. Believing that as we allow God’s thoughts to shape our way of thinking, our lives will be transformed by the goodness and faithfulness of God.
Leader Bio(s): Laverne Dowden has been married to her husband, Larry for 44 years. They have 2 grown children. Seeking to better understand the true nature of God and their identity in Christ, she and Larry moved to Colorado in 2016-2019 to attend Charis Bible College. In 2020, they moved back to Texas and started attending CRC in September of 2021.
Stormy Stouder believes that with faith in God and a firm understanding of your identity in Christ, there is nothing you cannot do. She is a Texas native and put herself through Texas Tech, graduating with honors in 1994 and married her college sweetheart that same year. Stormy founded StouderHouse, in 2012, handcrafting chemical-free, non-toxic products for personal and home use from recipes carefully developed over the years for her own family. She a licensed teacher, but chose to homeschool four children – three are college honors graduates, the youngest is still in college. Stormy has written or outlined multiple children’s books over the years and is currently illustrating the first four and beginning to look for a publisher. She wrote and published, "God’s Plan Simplified" in 2021. She is an avid Bible student and is honored to be a group leader here at Crossroads.
